Open Positions for Tutors (m/f/d) for the “Introduction to Cultural Studies”

The English Department is hiring tutors to accompany the lecture “Introduction to Cultural Studies” during the winter semester 2024-25. The lecture will be conducted by PD Dr. Birte Christ (University of Gießen), who will substitute for Prof. Michael Butter while he is on research leave.

Tutors are employed for 30 hours per month from November to February. BA, BEd, MA, and MEd students are invited to apply. MA students can choose to teach the tutorial to fulfill the requirements of the “Practice” module instead of receiving payment.

Tutors

• attend the lecture on Tuesdays from 10am to 12pm and the one-hour tutors’ meeting afterwards, where they brainstorm teaching ideas and methods for the tutorial,
• teach two one-hour tutorials per week in which they discuss the concepts covered in the lecture and practice their application, and
• assist in supervising and grading the final exam in February.

The deadline for applications is May 31, 2024. Short-listed applicants will be interviewed in June. The hiring process will be completed by the end of June.
